Security Officer/Guard
The Public Safety Officer in the UT Police Department at Houston screens students, patients, staff, faculty and visitors entering the facilities of the University for proper identification. Through observation and security patrol, the Public Safety Officer safeguards institutional property, identifies security issues and enforces institutional rules and regulations. In emergencies, the Public Safety Officer facilitates the orderly evacuation of the buildings and structures.

The ideal
candidate will demonstrate dedication to customer service excellence and will
be able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends,
and holidays.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Patrols university buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire.
Responds to calls for service and provides requested services in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Actively screens all persons entering university facilities; challenges persons without appropriate identification and all suspicious persons.
Other duties including, but not limited to, emergency recall and/or may be required to remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus. Local or long distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally.
