The Associate Threat and Risk Protection Analyst with the University of Texas Police Department at Houston will monitor various data sources, including social media, for threats and risks. This position audits electronic security and law enforcement technology systems; assists staff with providing analysis and solutions to threat/risk incidents; assists with outreach efforts to educate on behavioral patterns and trends; and ensures information management procedures comply with federal, state, and institutional policies. 


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Research and Analysis 

  • Monitors various data sources, performs transactions and reports on findings related to threat/risk incidents and investigations.
  • Monitors social media risk based watch lists and other data sources to identify and prevent risks to the institution.

 

Teamwork 

  • Works with other Threat & Risk Protection Analysts to provide analysis and solutions to threat/risk incidents.
  • Assists with outreach efforts to educate on behavioral patterns and trends.

 

Technology Systems  

  • Responsible for auditing the electronic security and law enforcement technology systems.
  • Monitors all data sources for quality assurance.
  • Assists with data collection and reviews related to administrative and criminal investigations.

 

Other Duties as Assigned  

Including, but not limited to:

  • Emergency recall and/or may be required to remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus.  

  • Local or long distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally. 

QUALIFICATIONS


Education

Required: Associate's degree.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Management, Police Science, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, or Public Health.


Experience

Required:

  • Three years of experience in risk evaluation and analysis, threat assessments and analysis, law enforcement, general case investigations, behavioral intervention analysis, crisis management, security systems, or conflict resolution.
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience. 
  • With the preferred degree, one year of experience in risk evaluation and analysis, threat assessments and analysis, law enforcement, general case investigations, behavioral intervention analysis, crisis management, security systems, or conflict resolution.
Preferred: Four years of experience in behavioral intervention case management.


Certification

Required:

  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) certification from the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association (NABITA)
  • Certification in Crisis Intervention Negotiation
  • Certified Threat Manager from the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP)
