Physical Therapist Assistant
- Provide assistance with administering clinical physical therapy treatments of all ages and disabilities under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for providing modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a therapist driven treatment plan.
- Provide treatment is in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.
- Provide supervision of physical therapy assistant students and rehabilitation technicians as required by ECPTOTE.
- Patient Treatment (55%)
- Provide physical therapy interventions as determined by a treatment plan established by a Physical Therapist;
- Provide patient and family teaching and education;
- Patient Care Documentation (25%)
- Documentation is concise, logical and uses appropriate and approved grammar, spelling and abbreviations.
- Documentation supports billing including Gcodes.
- Completes all documentation per timeline outlined in department policy and as required to optimize patient care and flow.
- Captures charges in accordance with departmental policy
- Documentation integrates and synthesizes all objective data and supports current clinical picture.
- Workload (15%)
- Meets targets for volume of billable
- Effectively initiates communication with supervisor/peers to assist with patient care when there is a need, such as for priority patients in the inpatient and/or outpatient area, as clinically appropriate
- Professional Behaviors & Teamwork (5%)
- Demonstrates initiative with all department and institutional policies and procedures and is compliant with timelines when indicated.
- Establishes reasonable and appropriate performance and development goals on a yearly basis within the required time frames.
- Request time off in a manner which minimizes disruptions to patient care and follows institutional and departmental guidelines
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
LICENSURE:
Current license to practice physical therapy in the State of Texas issued by Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR).
