The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is ranked the nation’s top hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals.” MD Anderson’s mission is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation and the world through exceptional programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention.
The primary purpose of the Assistant Director, Philanthropic Resources, is to develop and manage an active portfolio of 100 – 125 prospective donors that result in philanthropic dollars for the institution. Must be able to travel frequently, including overnight stays.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Donor Development – 80%
Identify, qualify, and cultivate a portfolio of donors with a capacity of $20,000 to $100,000 with a goal of soliciting and securing gifts to achieve their fundraising goals.
Participate and strategically outline regional based activities, proposal preparation, strategy development and solicitation executed within 12 – 24 month time frame.
Develop an understanding of development operations and work toward learning priorities, policies, and procedures to enhance knowledge of the institution and development office as it relates to donors and prospects.
Communication – 10%
Document results of all substantive contacts with donors for team lead review and critique.
Maintain documentation on a timely basis to be input by closing of each respective month, including contact reports, outlining donor strategies, proposal development and submissions per month.
Time Management – 10%
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively and efficiently organize and prioritize workload to meet constantly changing demands and policy adherence.
Responsible for actively developing fundraising skills through educational and training resources and professional associations.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Two years of direct fund-raising experience.
