Assessment InformationInstitutional Behavioral Assessment
For all positions, the institutional behavioral assessment is given to determine candidates’ fit with our institutional core values. Applicants who do not take the assessment will not be considered. Once you begin the assessment, you must complete it in its entirety. Your assessment results are active for 6 months. After submitting your application, check your e-mail for link to the required assessment from 'jobs@mdanderson.org'. We understand that applying to a position can be time consuming. That’s why we have automated our application process by allowing you to upload your resume when setting up your My Career Profile with MD Anderson. By setting up your profile, you can make updates conveniently with a click of a button. Uploading your resume is highly recommended.
Resume TipsMD Anderson receives resumes through our applicant tracking system in all Microsoft Word versions. By setting up a My Careers Profile, you are able to make updates to your resume and contact information to ensure we have your most recent data. Uploading your resume is highly recommended. Things to keep in mind when preparing your resume:
- Be sure your contact information is current
- Avoid non-standard fonts and bullets
- Avoid columns
- Place headings in all caps such as Education, Experience, Certifications, etc.
Our recruiters regularly search this database to locate qualified applicants for open jobs. Searches are done by keywords and phrases that describe the skills required for each job. It is important, therefore, that resumes include terms and familiar industry acronyms for all relevant skills and experience that could be of value in a position at MD Anderson.
Content tips to maximize “Hits” in our resume tracking database:
- Use enough key words to define your skills, experience, education, professional affiliations, etc.
- Describe your experience with concrete words
- Use more than one page if necessary to include all relevant job experience
- Use jargon and acronyms specific to your industry. Make sure you list appropriate certifications and/or licenses
- If you are not sure if the appropriate key words are part of the text, add a paragraph of key words to the bottom of your resume
Interview Tips
Preparation Is Key
- Learn everything you can about MD Anderson. A good place to start is here on our Web site. You can read about our departments, our mission and access recent press coverage.
- Gather your thoughts. You should be able to answer the following questions:
- What do you want to do?
- Where do you want to work?
- What kind of working environment do you prefer?
- What are your career goals?
- Prepare questions for the interviewer. The time spent with us is your chance to "interview" MD Anderson. Learn about the people you will be working with and the specific projects and activities in which you will be responsible. This will help you decide if MD Anderson is the place for you.
What to Expect
If we ask you to visit with us on site, you may be required to complete pre-employment testing if applicable to the position for which you are applying. You will meet at least one representative from our Human Resource Recruiting group; you also may meet individuals from the hiring department. These department members are generally potential hiring managers or team members of the group in which you are being considered for a position.
You should be prepared to answer both general questions about your background, as well as specific questions about projects you have worked on or situations you have encountered in your previous employment. Try to provide as much detail as possible in your responses (i.e., I worked on this project with these individuals, encountered this problem, solved it this way and then received this kind of feedback).
Tobacco-free hiringMD Anderson Cancer Center is committed to encouraging good health and staying true to our mission to end cancer.
